Oh, yes, we have been on the hunt. Where is the best place to spend the winter. After a winter in Florida in 2010, we have come back to the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) and our favorite Tropic Star. Although we plan to head west next winter, this is turning out to be a great place to spend the winter. In light of the great weather we are experiencing in 2012, it is likely to be a continuing favorite. We have been around to various other parks in the RGV but have always confirmed our decision to stay at the Tropic Star in Pharr. This may sound like a paid ad, but rest assured that we are visitors not employees, so this is just our opinion.

We have found several new RV gadgets to share as well as news from the RV world. This in addition to the tips on buy an RV and retirement expenses comprise this months show. We always like to hear from our listeners so send us a email at the link above and include a photo of your rig. As always, thanks for taking the time to listen.

With the credit card at the ready for buying fuel, we headed off to Pharr, TX for the winter. $550 later, we pulled into Pharr with a full tank of fuel. Fortunately we’ll be stationary for 6 weeks while the winter howls in the North. The trip down was uneventful and quite fast for us (4 days). We have already enjoyed several days of warmth and sun. Nothing much has changed since our last visit but a there is a big new grocery store directly across the street that was built in the last two years.
We would have liked to attend the National RV Show in Louisville but travel kept us away. We did, however, read about what’s new in the RV landscape and discuss it in some detail in this episode.
We are sure that you’ll not be surprised that we are still traveling (on the road?) via ship on our way to Brazil. We have crossed the Atlantic and the equator to find warm sunny weather. The crossing has given us time to meet shipmates and to share our love of RVing. A couple from GB use their Caravan (RV) almost as much as we us our motorhome to see the sights of Europe. Our interview with them is a fascinating look at how our RV life is the same and different from theres as they travel the road of Europe and we travel the US.
Our connection with RVing back home has been limited this month due to poor (read expensive) internet connections and lack of time. We will be back next month with a full range of interesting topics.

Yes, Turkey, the country, not the bird. We are once again on the road, but not in the RV. This month finds us in Istanbul, Turkey on a 17 day land tour of the country. If you have not considered Turkey for a vacation, it should be on your list. It has great vacation resorts as well as world class ruins and historical sites. Plenty to keep us busy for several weeks.
But this podcast is about RVing - and Turkey has no RVing to speak of. With the price of gas at $9.42, no one could afford to tow their trailer or run their motorhome. So, as usual, we revert back to what we know and love, RVing in the US. We have several topics to discuss this month, CAFE standards, towing regulations, and some not to be believed stories about solar and futuristic RVs.
Join us on this months RV travel adventue and send us an email with comments and suggestions.
navigator@rvnavigator.com

After a successful New England trip, we are once again at home. 2700 miles in 3 weeks is too many but our friends had a schedule to keep so we had to keep on driving. We missed the fall colors but had alot of lobster dinners (as mentioned last episode).
Don’t become a victim of RV lockin. I actually throught that this was a unlikely event until it happened to an RV neighbor in MA. A RVing couple in a Monico Motorhome actually became locked in their RV. This plus an article about “lock-ins” makes me think that it is more common than I knew.
Lots of tech topics (even though they make the co-pilot fall asleep) in this episode. Directv using the motosat dish, new G4 data card, when to buy an iPhone, LED lights, and the new Canon camera all topics in this Episode. How is your cell phone service? We are thinking of switching to Verizon - any thoughts?
How about the 10 best camping gadgets? What would they be? Many of our favs are not on the list.
